This little purse looks like a sunken treasure with glittering diamante-covered starfish across its opening and closure. Its shape is gently triangular with pointed ends coming up to a curved opening, which fastens with a little metal clasp which pops underneath the curved band. The fabric is woven silver lamé which also glitters under light and is attached to the clasp with a braided silver fabric cord. Its interior is unlined and features a small internal side pocket for your lipstick, loose change and bobby pins. The metal opening and starfish are made from silver coloured plated brass which has mostly worn off giving the purse a charming antique look. Attached is a short braided metal chain for clasping. This beautiful purse appears to be from around the mid-20th century and probably lived a life of attending balls clutched by gloved and bejewelled hands.
