An understated black chiffon full length evening gown perfect for every formal event. Its longer hem line and low waist characterise the style transition from the 1920s to 1930s. Included is an attached, full length undershift, made from beautiful black silk with a chiffon hem and lace neckline which peeks through the overdress. The overdress is made from sheer textured chiffon, with gorgeous Chantilly lace inserts at the hips and the lower half of the skirt. The front bodice has been sewn on the bias so that it drapes gracefully at the neck. There are also belt loops to add a dreamy art deco belt. The level of tailoring to this piece marks it has high end. The label is attached to the centre back and reads ‘Rose Duval New York Paris’, however we suspect this may not be an original label due to its positioning and sewing.

Condition: Very good/good- a little wear throughout especially the cream chiffon inside the chest, which also has two stains which are not visible from outside. There are several repairs to inner shoulders, inner chest and a few small holes that have been left as is. There are also a few darns in the black chiffon and lace, more prominent on the draped neckline. See photos for main darns. Hem appears to have been shortened at one stage and the stitching on this has faded to brown. This gown is in sturdy wearable condition especially for its age and is very beautiful in person.
