This beautiful muslin and lace blouse was handmade around the Edwardian era, early 20th century. There is a fine white cotton muslin base blouse that crochet lace/tatting has been pieced together over the top creating feature sleeves, yoke and a subtle peplum. The sleeves are elbow length and the top side of each sleeve is sheer with a muslin bottom side. The back is plain and fairly sheer due to the fine fabric and fully does up at centre back with metal poppers and a hook and eye. This is a true piece of history, you can see where the maker has pieced together the muslin and lace and see their slightly uneven but small, neat hand stitches. There is a small indistinguishable red stitched maker’s mark on the inside collar. This antique blouse would be beautiful paired with a floral skirt or vintage denim.
