c.1955 Dress and Jacket by Filette’s New York

$380.00

Availability: In stock

A circa 1955 matching jacket and dress with the perfect 1950s Dior silhouette. Made in New York by Filette’s, this set is impeccably tailored for everyday glamour. The jacket is made from a black and cream novelty weave knit with a nipped waist, darted bustline and 3/4 length sleeves. The peter pan collar and  cuffs are made from black velvet with black satin lining which match nine black velvet and crochet buttons down the centre front closure. The peplum itself holds its shape with a stiff interlining, lined with black satin. Both the jacket and dress have a little bit of stretch due to the knit fabrics and are soft and comfortable to wear.

Your ideal little black dress is made from a soft and chunky knit with a high V-neck and an empire bodice defined by an inverse sweetheart line. The short sleeves are dolman style with no armseye seam. Underbust darts smooth over the stomach and glide into a gentle straight skirt which has an invert pleat at reverse hem. There is a long metal zip at centre back. It is unlined and has a simple rolled hem so could be taken up easily.

This set is ex-collection of FIT, the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York, and we have left their accession labels attached to both dress and jacket.
