Mid-Century Seersucker Shirtwaist Dress

$119.00

Availability: In stock

An ice cream sundae cute striped fit and flare day dress from the 1950s/60s made in a pretty lilac and white striped seersucker that has a slight crinkle texture. Its top is a comfortable boxy shape with near elbow length sleeves and a simple pointed collar. The skirt is a full circle skirt with pleats at the waist and the waist is stitched to a ribbon with no stretch. This vintage dress is soft and unlined with a full buttoned front, perfect for chucking on and heading out on a summer’s day. The sleeves can be worn rolled or not and there are belt loops, although the belt is not included. The fabric is medium-light weight and the skirt has a thick hem that could be easily taken up or down.  This type of simple ‘shirtwaist’ dress was popular for everyday wear in the 1950s and 1960s and could vary with feature collars, cuffs, fabric inserts, puffed shoulders, or statement pockets on the hips.
