A characteristic two-piece skirt suit in a patterned, lustrous tan wool twill. This beautiful set consists of a tailored jacket with a matching knee length pencil skirt. The jacket has two small handkerchief pockets on the front peplum, a removable linen collar, lovely octagonal buttons, padded shoulders, nipped waist, belt loops and folded cuffs. The jacket is lined with a buttercup yellow silk crepe. A narrow self-covered leather belt accentuates the nipped waist. The skirt is partially lined in the same yellow crepe, with a side zip closure and two hook and eyes. This is the quintessential post-war silhouette, made from high quality materials and beautifully tailored by one of the great New York suit and coat designers. It’s all the little extras that make this set so amazing, such as fabric bound button holes, curved welt design at shoulders and embroidered flossing. A really special piece that has come from the collection of the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York.
