A genuine 1960s prairie dress made especially for the events held for the Calgary Stampede. The fabric is black and white gingham adorned with synthetic lace and ribbon trims that have a hint of metallic silver woven in. The gathered waist, flared skirt, puff sleeves with gathered cuffs and rows of lace trim make this dress super romantic. There is a ‘V’ neckline with pointed collar, accentuated by the double lace trim on the bodice. A matching belt cinches in the waist. Can be worn with a petticoat as shown on the mannequin or by itself as shown on our model Georgia. The gathered waist and sleeve cuffs are elasticated.
Calgary is one of Canada’s Prairie Provinces and home of Western cultural events such as rodeos, farming shows and the Calgary Stampede which still happens today. We believe this was gifted to the previous owner following the 1965 Calgary Stampede for which it was made.
