Late 19th century, Amish style, ladies velvet brocade cape. Burnt velvet, short cape in fleur-de-lis pattern. The lining is a soft brown silk blend with a slight sheen. Beautifully tailored shape with winged, elbow length sleeves and a stand up collar. The back finishes at waist height with a double pleat at centre back. There is an attached waist tie, hook and eye front closures. This was most likely worn as part of a mourning ensemble, nowadays it presents as a classy evening or opera jacket.

Condition: Very good, a few small faded patches across the lining and black velvet. A 3cm patch repair to inner lining. This has not been laundered owing to its antique condition.
